Decatur is a city located in Washington and Root Townships in Adams County, Indiana, and according to the 2010 census the population was 9,405. It is also the county seat of Adams County. The city is named after war hero Stephen Decatur, Jr. in 1836. Adams Memorial Hospital is located in Decatur, and that hospital has been named as one of the top 100 critical access hospitals in the country. This town is located in a humid continental climate zone, and residents will experience four distinctive seasons.
Decatur is home to a variety of attractions that may be of interest to visitors and residents. The Adams County Historical Museum is located in this city, and the Adams County Park and Recreation is responsible for a variety of outdoor spaces and activities. The Mirage Banquet Hall is also a popular location as is the St. Luke Activity Center.
